This quest has 4 parts and requires 5 screenshots. It may take you more than one class period to complete.
Part 1
Go to the 21Things for Students Website Choose "Interactives" Quest #2
Define these two key vocabulary words on your website:
1. Manipulatives
2. Vertices
Then go on to #1.
Go to Library of National Manipulatives and click on grades 6-8-Geometry-Lady Bug Maze. Read the directions on the right side of the page for "Create a plan for the ladybug" and "Try out your plan." Go back to the list of manipulatives and try one or two others. (NOTE: If this is blocked, use turtle pond from NCTM Illuminations).
Screen shot your game and post it on your Weebly under Quest 3 Part 1
After completing the Ladybug Maze or Turtle Pond, create your own maze on grid paper to share with your classmate. Choose a place for your creature to begin and end. Mark the two locations on the grid. Write step by step directions using (x,y) coordinates and exchange with your partner and complete the exercise, seeing if they are able to complete your path correctly. Use Desmos Graphing Calculator https://www.desmos.com/calculator
Be sure to include at least four changes in direction, making sure to list the vertices along the way.
OR
(If you want practice using coordinates, click this link to try parking a car using a grid and coordinate system. Can you do three of these on a first try?)
Screen shot your choice and post it to your Weebly under Quest 3 Part 1
Part 2
Go to Edheads- Science and Math Interactives and click on Choose an Activity.
If you are in grades 7-9 click on Trauma. Your task is to stabilize a patient and determine why he passed out while driving.
Screen shot your results from Truama and post it to your Weebly under Part 2 Quest 3
Part 3
Now that you have experienced some interactives, dig a little deeper. Select a topic that you are studying in school (e.x. The Battle of Gettysburg, solar energy, scalene triangles, etc.). Search two out of three of the applications below to find resources that could support your learning. (NOTE: Illuminations is a MATH ONLY site, so do not choose it if your topic is not math specific). Write a brief review of the one you think would be the most useful to you in school. Include the information below. Post your information in a text box on your Weebly Quest 3/Part 3:
