For Quest #3: First save the Career Research Document at the bottom of the page in your H: drive
1. Take the Career Cluster Survey Identify the Career Cluster(s) that best fits your personality, skills and interests by taking the Career Cluster Survey in Quest #3. This is on the 21things4students website under"Career Prep" "Career Match". Download it and print it out. Complete it and turn it in when you finish this quest.
2. Research your Career Cluster
Visit the CareerShip site: http://mappingyourfuture.org/planyourcareer/careership/index.cfm and search by your top Career Cluster found in Step 1. Locate career descriptions, tasks, interests, education, knowledge, skills, and etc. from three possible careers within your Cluster. Record in your Career Research Notes document. You may have to search a specific job if your cluster is not there.
3. Research Career Outlook Locate the nature of work, working conditions, education, job outlook, and earnings for your top three careers using the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook: http://www.bls.gov/ooh/ and/or the O*NET Database: http://www.onetonline.org/ . Record in your Career Research Notes document.
4. Compare Your Top Three Careers
Using Microsoft Word create a chart that compares your top three careers based on salary. Include the spreadsheet/graph in your Power Point presentation. Record in your Career Research Notes document.
5. Create a Power Point Presentation: Create a presentation that includes information from Steps 1-4. Your presentation should include:
A. Research gathered from Steps 1-4, including all 3 of your choices (at least 2 slides each with) include:
*description of the job
* what you would have to do
* Education needed
* Skills related to
* What kind of working conditions (inside vs. outside)
* Job outlook
* Earnings
B. Title Page
C. Graph of your earnings
D. Summary (which job you would choose and why)
E. Anything else you feel adds to the presentations visual appeal
*Be creative, a black and white PowerPoint is not going to cut it!
